Settling in!

This is the view from my bedroom balcony.  It's well worth all the hassles of shifting but I really don't want to do that again for a while.  Downsizing from a large three bedroomed place to a one bedroom place has taken some sorting.  Lots of furniture went.  However, I don't seem to have downsized my wool collection!

There is a large overgrown garden full of lovely treasures including these,  Yes, those really are good old fashioned snowdrops!  I picked daphne today too.

And camelias.  I can't wait to get some time to really start work on cleaning up the garden and seeing what other treasures are in there!

I have slowly been working on a cot blanket.  I was going to keep it simple but couldn't help put a few bobbles into it

Moving house!

I'm down sizing from a large three bedroomed apartment to a one bedroomed apartment right on the waterfront. The view from my new living room and bedroom is divine. I can lie in bed and watch the sea. But, oh, the agony of sorting and packing! I have sold off excess furniture, donated lots of clothes to goodwill, but my quilting, knitting and crochet supplies don't seem to be diminishing!

It's done!

It's done!  Finished!  Edged with 2 rows of dc in red on one side and 2 rows of dc in aqua on the other.  It's perfect for snuggling under and will be very handy as wintry weather starts to draw in.  Candace Bahouth Squirrel and Monkey cushions on the end of the sofa.

More blankie!

Passed the one meter mark!

A couple of cold, rainy days provided plenty of opportunity for this to grow!  Cold, rain and endless old TV show reruns!

It's growing!

It's growing!!  I can't quite capture the colours as they are.  However they are loud.  It's been interesting not giving in to the urge to tone the colours down!

Hexagons completed!

Right outside my window!  The Anzac Day blessing for this newly restored steam engine at Paekakariki Railway Station.  This was a little boy's paradise as the steam engine ran backward and forwards blowing clouds of smoke and steam!

Finally finished this one - all the loose ends sewn in and clipped.  I don't really like the white SC joining.  I think I would have preferred a white row before joining.  It was an interesting experiment.

Unfinished projects!  Good for a rainy day and a couple of good movies methinks!

It's growing

It's growing, which is as well, as it's colder tonight.  Blankie is now keeping my knees warm.

Easter Monday

A gorgeous sunny morning so I spoilt myself with a freshly baked cheese scone and latte at The Perching Parrot again.  This time I had a delightful breakfast companion to share the scone with.

This was followed with a walk along the beach.  It was utterly gorgeous this morning.  I found some unusual pink jellyfish on my wanderings.

This is going to be an outside day!  I was intending to spend the day de-cluttering cupboards but it's just too nice outside!

Easter Sunday

I woke this morning to torrential rain.  A good excuse to lie in bed and read before a long soak in a bath with lavender oils before venturing out for breakfast!  A cheese scone and latte at The Perching Parrot, a lovely cafe in the village.

I learned how to make bobbles!  Thanks to Tales from Cuckoo Land.  I am enjoying this new lark, and its a good excuse to avoid dealing with the cupboards..

Bright colours for Easter

It has been a warm sunny morning for Good Friday, after heavy storms yesterday.  I love the smell of the sea in the air after a big blow!  I decided to experiment with bright double knit wools after reading little woollie's blog.  These colours are definitely outside my comfort zone - and don't show up anywhere near as bright in the photos.  However I shall have fun learning some new stitches when the bad weather rolls back in again.

The sea is smoking today.  Lots of salt spray in the air and the tide too high for walking along the beach - maybe later this afternoon.
